Homeopathy is holistic
The World Health Organisation states:
''Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Homeopathy deals with the individual as a whole, taking into consideration the entire mental, physical and social well being. Allopathic medicine, on the other hand, isolates individual symptoms and treats each one as though they are not related. Allopathy is fantastic when responding to a health crisis by patching up these surface symptoms so we can get on with our lives as before. However, it doesn't look at the problem with a wider lens and therefore misses the bigger picture, eventually leading to the use of more and more medication . Homeopathy is a form of healthcare that looks at past trauma, susceptibilty, the medical history of parents and grandparents and the individual's approach to life, relating all this with the individual's physical symptoms. From this wealth of information, a classical homeopath will prescribe a remedy that covers the totality of the symtoms.
No two people the same
A homeopath will often give two people with the same diagnosis a completely different remedy, since no two people experience the same disease in the same way. Although two people may share similar symptoms, the way they experience their condition is often very different. The type of pain they feel may differ, as well what makes the pain better or worse and the way the symptoms cause them to behave. Since stress is often linked to illness, homeopaths will often want to find out more about how an individual experiences it.
“The natural force within each of us is that greatest healer of all.”
Taking into consideration people’s experience of their illness rather than focusing on their isolated symptoms means that the homeopath really looks at the underlying cause of their 'dis-ease'. A good constitutional remedy should increase overall energy, improve well-being and help the client generally feel happier and move on in their lives. This sense of wellbeing and feeling of being 'unblocked' will then ripple out to improve their physical symptoms.
